Description
Under the Agreement between FCT and
ESA,
ESO e
EMBL for on-the-job traineeships at this International
Organization, FCT announces that the call for expression of interest for
traineeships at ESA, ESO and EMBL (
BEST
Fellowships, art. 10 of the National Rules) is open until
16
December 2019, 5pm (Lisbon time).
Objectives
Advanced training of young Portuguese graduates in large International
Scientific Organisations such as
ESA,
ESO and
EMBL in areas where the competence of
these organisations is worldwide known.
Applications with major relevance to Portugal are valued, appropriate namely
to the thematic areas indicated by the industry, to the experiences and to
the programs in which Portugal participates.
Candidates with relevant professional or scientific activity will also be
valorized after completing their academic training.
Beneficiaries
Traineeships at ESA, ESO and EMBL are for candidates with a bachelor's degree
or master's degree - obtained less than 6 years ago - and a doctorate degree
- less than 3 years ago - in scientific and technological fields, where the
competence of ESA, ESO and EMBL is internationally recognized.
Eligibility Conditions
This call for expressions of interest supports
BEST
traineeships (art. 10 of the National Rules). The duration of the
traineeship is annual, renewable up to a maximum of two years, upon approval
by FCT.
Each candidate must indicate in order of preference the
training opportunities to which they apply.
Applicants must be fluent in English.

The period of expression of interest by potential candidates for traineeships
at ESA, ESO and EMBL runs until
16 December 2019, 5pm (Lisbon
time).
Evaluation
Applications will be evaluated by an Evaluation Panel, composed by
representatives of the industry and the national scientific community.
