EUA-CDE Workshop: Meet the speakers: "The EUA Council for Doctoral Education (EUA-CDE) is proud to introduce the speakers who will share their knowledge and expertise at its workshop on “Ethics and Integrity in Doctoral Education and Research Training.” Hosted by the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa in Portugal, the event will take place on 18 and 19 January 2017. Registration is open until 9 January. The workshop will begin with a welcome address by António Manuel Bensabat Rendas, Rector of the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, Luke Georghiou, Chair of the EUA-CDE Steering Committee and Patrícia Rosado Pinto, Head of NOVA Doctoral School. This will be followed by an opening plenary session on the importance of ethics and integrity training in academic research. The keynote speakers will be Göran Collste of the Centre for Applied Ethics at Linköping University in Sweden and Maura Hiney of the Health Research Board in Ireland. Next, parallel sessions will invite EUA-CDE members to share their own experiences and best practices in this field.  The second day of the event will begin with a master class on training the trainers, providing practical insights to aid participants in getting their own research integrity training on track. The master class will be given by Nele Bracke, Katrien Daemen-de Gelder and Dieter De Bruyn from the Ghent University Doctoral Schools in Belgium. The programme will conclude by bringing together the different threads running throughout the workshop in a panel discussion, including the following speakers: Nele Bracke from the Ghent University Doctoral Schools; Christian Dumpitak of Heinrich-Heine-Universitaet Duesseldorf and the German University Association of Advanced Graduate Training; Vidar Enebakk from the Norwegian National Research Ethics Committee for the Social Sciences and the Humanities; Carmen Navarro Aragay from the Agency for Quality Assurance at the University of Barcelona; Kenneth Wann from the University Graduate College of Cardiff University in the UK and Nalin Thakker from the University of Manchester in the UK. The thematic workshop is open exclusively to EUA-CDE members and will promote an exchange of ideas on the shared responsibility of staff on all institutional levels to train young researchers in good research ethics and integrity.  For more information and to register, please click here. "
