EUA > EUA-CDE Annual Meeting takes stock of doctoral education

EUA > EUA-CDE Annual Meeting takes stock of doctoral education: "More than 230 participants met on 18-19 June at the Technische Universität München (TUM), Munich, Germany, to take stock of the developments in European doctoral education over the last decade and discuss the challenges ahead. While taking into account the major challenges for universities in general, conference participants focused in particular on three areas: open access, research integrity and capacity building. Open access was seen as part of a larger digital challenge for universities, which also included open and blended learning. Research integrity was discussed as an increasingly important activity to support the development of sound research practices at universities at a time of increasing pressure on institutions as well as on individual researchers. Participants gave examples of cases where research integrity had become an integral part of the training of doctoral candidates. Finally, the topic of capacity building touched on a number of issues, from developing regions that are less research intensive to the question of collaboration on doctoral education between universities and universities of applied science."
