Open Call 'Stimulus to Individual Scientific Employment 2017'

FCT announces the opening of the 'Individual Scientific Employment Incentive 2017' competition, which aims at individual financing of 500 contracts for PhD researchers (ie candidates having a PhD degree) in all scientific areas. Applications will run until 12 February 2018.

b) Auxiliary researcher: doctorate for more than 5 years, with relevant curriculum in the scientific area to which he / she is applying, without requiring a demonstration of scientific independence.
c) Principal Investigator: PhD for more than 5 years, with relevant curriculum in the scientific area to which he / she is applying, demonstrating scientific independence in the last 3 years.
d) Coordinating researcher: PhD for more than 5 years, holder of the degree of qualification or cluster, with a high merit curriculum in the scientific area to which he / she is applying, demonstrating scientific independence and with evidence of leadership in the scientific area to which he / she is applying.
In your application to submit electronically in English, candidates must indicate the host institutions where they will carry out their research. In turn, the host institutions should associate themselves with their applications.
The evaluation, to be carried out by an international panel of recognized merit, will focus on the candidate's course and on the proposed research plan, which should be included in the United Nations Sustainable Development Agenda 2030.
The selected researchers are directly recruited by the identified host institution through FCT funding.
The 'Encouragement for Individual Scientific Employment 2017' is one of the new funding mechanisms foreseen in the Scientific Employment Regulation, launched by FCT this year, aimed at the systematic reinforcement of scientific employment in the SCTN, increasing the opportunities and opportunities for doctors and effecting scientific employment after the doctorate. Through a diversified framework of scientific employment support, the reduction of the precariousness of scientific research links, institutional rejuvenation and the attractiveness of the national territory for science and technology are guaranteed.

A FCT anuncia a abertura do Concurso ‘Estímulo ao Emprego Científico Individual 2017’, que visa o financiamento individual de 500 contratos para investigadores doutorados em todas as áreas científicas. As candidaturas decorrem até ao dia 12 de Fevereiro de 2018.
Podem candidatar-se todos os doutorados de qualquer nacionalidade ou apátridas, com um percurso em qualquer área científica, que pretendam realizar a sua atividade de investigação científica ou desenvolvimento tecnológico em Portugal, integrados em unidades de I&D financiadas pela FCT.
Consideram-se as seguintes categorias de referência:
a) Investigador júnior: doutorado com reduzida experiência de investigação pós-doutoral ou sem currículo científico após o doutoramento na área científica a que se candidata.
b) Investigador auxiliar: doutorado há mais de 5 anos, com currículo relevante na área científica a que se candidata, sem exigência de demonstração de independência científica.
c) Investigador principal: doutorado há mais de 5 anos, com currículo relevante na área científica a que se candidata, demonstrando independência científica nos últimos 3 anos.
d) Investigador coordenador: doutorado há mais de 5 anos, detentor do título de habilitado ou agregado, com currículo de mérito elevado na área científica a que se candidata, demonstrando independência científica e com evidência de liderança na área científica a que se candidata.
Na sua candidatura, a submeter eletronicamente em língua inglesa, os candidatos devem indicar as instituições de acolhimento onde vão realizar a sua investigação. Por sua vez, as instituições de acolhimento devem associar-se às respetivas candidaturas.
A avaliação, a realizar por um painel internacional de reconhecido mérito, incidirá sobre o percurso do candidato e sobre o plano de investigação proposto, que deve ser enquadrado na Agenda 2030 de Desenvolvimento Sustentável da Organização das Nações Unidas.
Os investigadores selecionados são diretamente contratados pela instituição de acolhimento identificada, através de financiamento da FCT.
O Concurso ‘Estímulo ao Emprego Científico Individual 2017’ é um dos novos mecanismos de financiamento previstos no Regulamento do Emprego Científico, lançado pela FCT este ano, que visam o reforço sistemático do emprego científico no SCTN, aumentando as vias e oportunidades de emprego para doutores e efetivando o emprego científico após o doutoramento. Através de um quadro diversificado de apoio ao emprego científico, garante-se a redução da precariedade dos vínculos na investigação científica, o rejuvenescimento institucional e a atratividade do território nacional para a ciência e a tecnologia.
Em 2018 e 2019 serão abertos novos concursos de ‘Estímulo ao Emprego Científico Individual’.
